Spreading Awareness to Mark World Population Day

The World Population Day is an annual event, observed on the 11th of July every year and seeks to raise awareness on global population issues. The day is marked by the world pledging towards creating a resilient future for all- harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all.
St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh observed the day with a plethora of activities aiming to raise awareness on various population issues concerning the world, with special focus on its relationship with the environment and development. The Josephites have always played a pivotal role when it comes to environmental concerns and they understand the relation of population growth and the pressure it exercises on the limited resources available. Fully comprehending the dire need to control population, they took the onus to help spread the message to address the problem of ever increasing world population. The Middle Block marked their contributions towards the endeavor through powerful speeches and power point presentations. Holding hands in fraternity and solidarity, the students formed a human chain to emphasize the power of people standing together. The Senior Secondary Block of the school held an Inter House Poster Competition wherein the students created eye catching posters with meaningful captions.They garnered the attention of the masses towards the problems that arise due to population explosion, including poverty, gender inequality, maternal health, hunger, disease, warfare and human rights.
