Josephites encouraging fitness and sportmanship in masses

The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on the birth anniversary of hockey player Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player who had won gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. The day is observed to spread awareness on the importance of sports and daily activities in everyone’s life. It aims to encourage people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their everyday lives.
To commemorate this day, Middle Block, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh, took the initiative to spread awareness in students about the importance of healthy and fit lifestyle in today’s time of pandemic. The elated students took part in various activities. The enthusiastic students of Middle Block played games like football, kho-kho, table tennis, obstacle race and many more. Also they curated amazing posters depicting the legends of sports. The Secondary and Senior Secondary Block, students enthusiastically participated in the Cross-Country Race, displaying the most important 5 S’s of sports- stamina, speed, strength, skill, and spirit to spread awareness about physical activity, sports, and overall health. The students thoroughly enjoyed the occasion by also sharing their views on the dire necessity of following a healthy lifestyle on days.
The members of Management, Shri Rupinder Grewal, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur andPrincipal and Ms Monica Chawla, appreciated the students’ efforts and adjourned the event by sharing a few words of wisdom with the students, talking about the importance of physical activities in our daily life schedule. They encouraged them to take up some sport of their choice and channelize their energy in the right direction.
