To make children aware about the culture of India and importance of Raksha Bandhan, the Kindergarten, Primary I & II Blocks of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sec-44-D, Chandigarh organised various competitions like ‘Rakhi Making’ and ‘Thali Decoration’, ‘Card Making’ and ‘Poem Recitation’. The atmosphere was filled with festive spirit. The event was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal. Students displayed their talent and decorated rakhis and thalis that exhibited their originality and creative minds. They used different materials like bindis, thread, stickers, ribbons, beads and even waste material. We can see the fusion of modern with traditional styles in their rakhis and thali decoration. Bright and colourful cards bearing the promise of love and belongingness were made by the students. They recited heart touching poems which were full of emotion and innocence. The children enjoyed the events which were aimed at strengthening the bond of love and to instil the virtues and harmony among the young growing Josephites. Keeping in mind the significance of protecting trees, Vrikshabandhan was carried out by KG children where they tied rakhi on trees and took pledge to protect nature to save earth and mankind. The motive behind organizing this competition was to enhance the skill of creativity, competence and nurturing their inner talent. The school Principal Mrs. Monica Chawla appreciated the student’s creativity and motivated them to celebrate the festival with true spirit which will inculcate the values for Indian traditions
