“Art is a form of learning for children to trust their ideas, themselves and to explore what is possible.” To promote creativity and to develop its unique contribution in personal development St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh organized an Art &Craft Workshop in collaboration with students and faculty of GHS Sector 53, GHS Khajeri & GMSSS 44 schools on 6th August,2022 under Girls India project and as a part of 75 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The objective of the workshop was to enhance the creative skills of the students.The workshop began with the expert guidance from the mentors Mr Manoj GHS, 53, Ms Meena, GHS, Khajeri and Mr Mukesh GHS 53 about the different forms of Arts,painting techniques and also how to pursue arts as a career.
Different forms of art and craft like sketching techniques, vegetable printing were taught to the students in which they learnt to cut vegetables into different shapes and patterns of flowers and leaves etc and used them to create artifacts. Besides this students enjoyed sponge painting technique which helped them to give an interesting texture and appearance to a surface. The art of lettering was another useful craft taught in which they showed their skill of cutting different alphabets in different shapes and styles.
This workshop gave the opportunity to the students of dfferent schools to collaborate , combine their imaginations and their artistic and aesthetic sensibility to use art in different forms. It also supported their creative and critical thinking skills which are so highly valued in today’s world. It was a complete de stressing and enjoyable learning experience for the students.
The students felt a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction while they presented their creations at the end of the workshop. The Principal , Vice Principal and the staff appreciated the joint efforts of Art and craft teachers from GHS 53, GHS Khajeri & GMSSS 44 and the host school. They also applauded the creative art work of the students.
