Josephites learning to become an altruistic during disasters
Disaster management may not avoid the situation. But it can surely minimize the impacts.
To make the students aware about disaster management a talk by the school doctor Megha was delivered to the secondary block students of St Joseph’s Sr. Sec School.
We all are shaken by the unprecedented natural disasters recently experienced by various countries. Floods in Pakistan and some parts of India, wildfires in South Korea and Africa made it imperative to have contingency plans and Emergency response teams emerging from today’s youth at all required sites. As disasters are calamities of sudden nature impacting a large community during a short span of time, the response time needs to be minimal.
Disaster management helps in handling these natural calamity and disasters efficiently. In the event of a disaster, proper preparations are essential as mechanisms, already in place, help to minimize the effect and provide pace the recovery process. Trained and aware youth can not only provide physical and materialistic assistance but also help in the emotional rehabilitation of people.
With all this discussed with practical situations and students shared their innovative ways in handling such situations. The Coordinator of the block appreciated the efforts made and the feedback received from the attendees.
