Enskying a Path to Leadership- Investiture Ceremony at St.Joseph’s

Keeping the time honoured tradition alive,St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh held its annual Investiture Ceremony in the school premises today. It was a grand day to recognize and honour the young students for their sincere and dedicated rendering of duties. Every year, the School Cabinet members are circumspectly chosen for the special qualities and skills they exhibit, which will enable them to render their duties responsibly. Having a cabinet comprising of students fosters school spirit and offers countless leadership opportunities. Donning the mantle of accountability, the Head Boy- Prajanya Acharya Head Girl- Jasmindeep Kaur, Vice Head Boy- Ansh Tyagi and Vice Head Girl- Gurpreet Kaur along with the other Cabinet members had Badges and Sashes conferred upon them by Director Mr. Paramdeep Grewal as well as Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla.
The school has a system of Four Houses named after eminent personalities like Ashoka-the Great, C V Raman, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Rabindranath Tagore. Every student at St Joseph’s is assigned a House when he gains admission as a Josephian. This system of allotting students to different Houses helps them to develop their social skills and gives them a feeling of belonging while also providing positive competition and building a closer rapport. Thus, it was the House Captains, Vice House Captains and Prefects who were next in line to be honored by the Vice Principal and Coordinators of the school. Students dressed in resplendent House colours , marching to the beat of drums, added grandeur to the event.
The Oath Taking Ceremony is another integral part of the formal procedure of the Investiture. It is a moment of great pride when the Oath is administered by the Principal to the young newly elected members of the School Cabinet. The Prefects solemnly swear to uphold the utmost standards set up by the institution and promised to abide by all its rules and regulations.
While addressing the audience, The Head Boy and the Head Girl pledged their allegiance to the establishment and to always adhere to the ethics expected of them. They highlighted the morals and values learnt at school and encouraged other students to give back their best to the institution which has inculcated these values in them.The House Captains promised to take these duties very seriously and ensured that all the students would follow through.
Director Mr Paramdeep Grewal and Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, congratulated all the Josephians on attaining such prestigious positions. Sir also stressed on the fact that along with the position they would have to shoulder tremendous responsibilities. He stated,’ To be inspired is great but to be an inspiration is an honour.’ Principal Ma’am reminded them to always be fair while discharging their duties so that they could live up to the high expectations and principles of the school.She concluded by adding –
“The challenge of leadership is to be :
strong, but not rude
kind, but not weak
bold , but not bully
thoughtful, but not lazy
humble, but not timid
proud, but not arrogant
have humour, but without folly.”
The Ceremony ended with a robust rendition of the National Anthem and a promise of making St.Joseph’s a disciplined and self motivated cradle for learning and growing.
