THE JOSEPHIAN SCOUTS AND GUIDES TEAM CAMP IN THE PICTURESQUE HILLS OF SHIMLA

St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh has taken a remarkable initiative to strengthen and make its students prepared for adverse challenges by giving them the golden opportunity of attending Scouts and Guides camp at Taradevi Temple, Shimla (H.P.). The camp organised in October has proved to be both an educational and adventure camp for the students. At the onset, the camp began with the Scouts and Guides prayer and State Training Commissioner (Scout) Mr L.S. Verma along with the Scout Master Mr. Vipan Kumar and Guide Captain Ms. Tarandeep unfurled the flag. Mr. Verma apprised participants of the History of Scouts and Guide programme in India. It was a fun time as students learnt about different knots used by the guides and enjoyed a much looked forward treat of burning a campfire during the chilly nights in Shimla.

 Mr. L.S. Verma motivated the youngsters by sharing his life experiences and also guiding them on making good choices and taking responsibility for their actions, so as to enable them to be independent and fearless individuals in the coming years. The campers learnt various activities during their stay which included trekking, first aid and caring for injured persons till medical care is made available. The camp made the young Josephians learn priceless lessons about life. This camp assisted in the development of self-motivation and teamwork in students.

The school Director Mr. Paramdeep Grewal appreciated the team members of Scouts and Guides for their initiatives and asked the young adventurers to value the benefits learnt during the camp. The school principal Ms. Monica Chawla called on the participants to commit themselves towards becoming trustworthy and responsible citizens through this training camp. She added that scouting and guiding will give an experience on how to face the challenges of life and move on with zeal and commitment.
