‘Don’t let your future go up in smoke, follow fire safety first’
The whole country can become a safer place to live in by generating awareness on fire safety measures. Children are highly vulnerable in any disaster therefore their protection needs specific attention. Keeping this in mind, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector-44D Chandigarh invited a very vigilant team from the Fire Station, Sector-32 Chandigarh, Mr. Amarjit Singh- Sub Fire Officer, Mr. Baljinder Singh and Mr. Kewal Singh , Leading firemen were invited to school to make the students and the staff aware about the safety measures to be taken during any fire disaster.
He enriched the staff and students on the triangle of fire and the meaning of A, B,C, D on the Fire Extinguisher. Some very useful safety tips regarding safety against fire were given to the students and the staff like : Protect yourself and your friends, Stay calm and don’t panic, Use a staircase and not a lift, Attract attention of the rescue team by loud noise, always check the expiry date on the Fire Extinguisher and above all dial: 112 for any emergency. A mock drill was organized to teach the students how to operate fire extinguisher and its safety measures were explained.
