“Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit”.
To enthuse, motivate and develop mathematical concepts creatively, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh celebrated Mathematics Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of one of the legendary Mathematician ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan’. The day was commenced by fun filled activities for junior as well as senior students, who exhibited unparalleled excitement and actively participated in all activities.
The mathematical wizards of Primary 1 engaged with activities like model of clock with the help of hoola hoop ring, vibrant wristbands by writing the multiples, ‘MATHBOLA’
(a combination of mathematics and tam bola) were organised to understand various concepts and enriched their skills in an amazing way.
Students of Primary-2 organised Maths quiz and engrossed in interesting activities like “Equate to Win”, Fruity Angles, presentations on Ratio Proportion which helped to develop their creativity, critical thinking and strengthening Mathematical concepts.
Students of Middle Block learned and applied Concepts via fun mathematical games, like solving rubric’s cube, Sudoku and Number- actions, posters , models on the concepts like Bar graph , 2D and 3D Area and perimeter on Formula wheel, fraction wheel which equipping them with sturdy and essential life skills.
Students from Senior Block exhibited Mathematical figures and patterns using Mandala art , prepared maths pockets with interesting facts related to maths curriculum and made innovative games using concepts of probability, linear equations, parabolas etc. The main objective behind the celebration was to give an opportunity to the students to enhance their logical and thinking skills. Principal Ma’am Ms. Monica Chawla appreciated the efforts for experiential learning by students.
