St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh has always been a changemaker. The school was one and the only school selected from the tricity amongst the shortlisted 7 schools from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh to be selected for the Personality Development Centre (PDC) for desired personality of an entrepreneur for schools, the one of its kind program designed by ERDC in collaboration with IIT Ropar, NITTTR, PU Chd, PEC, and CBSE to promote entrepreneurship and enlighten the entrepreneurial spirit amongst school students.
ERDC under the 3 Phased Entrepreneurship Development Program initiated the first phase i.e., the Personality Development Centre (PDC) for desired personality of an entrepreneur for schools and in association with CBSE.
A team of 28 students including 2 mentor teachers was constituted in the school. The team participated in all the lecture sessions, workshops as well as the competitions held over the period of six months.
Lecture series of six months long Entrepreneurship Development Program was successfully concluded at St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School today where the convener of the program, Mr. Chetan Sahore was the key speaker.
The PDC concept included six topics starting from Basics of Entrepreneurship; Idea Generation; Business Plan; Funding and Revenue Model; Legalities involved in Entrepreneurship; and Pitching of the idea.
All the above-mentioned topics were covered with three activities of each topic the first being a lecture at school, followed by a workshop at the partner institute and various rounds of competition both online and offline. Students of the school have proved their mettle in every competition with their diligence, perseverance and single-minded approach.
Beginning August 2022, experts from industry and institutes guided the students in above mentioned topics. Workshops were organised at NITTTR, IIT – Ropar, Panjab University and Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana where students got a chance to explore the infrastructure of the institutes and interact with the budding entrepreneurs at various incubation centers at the listed institutions.
Students also got a golden opportunity to meet and interact with various dignitaries such as Director IIT-Ropar, Prof.(Dr.) Rajeev Ahuja Ji; Prof.(Dr.) Devinder Singh, Chairperson Department of Laws, Panjab University; and Adv. Suvir Sidhu Ji, Chairman Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in addition to other enlightened speakers.
On 14th February 2023 the lecture series of different topics was concluded at the school by Mr. Chetan Sahore, convener of the concept.
The School Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla remained a guiding light for the chosen team. She thanked Mr. Chetan Sahore for his special idea to bring about a positive change in the society ensuring a task force of job creators rather than just being job seekers. She added that the school has always laid stone for a better society and took NEP 2020 principles with utmost dedication and sincerity ensuring its complete adaptability.
The concluding workshop is scheduled to happen in the following month at NITTTR.
