Being one of the pioneers of Girls India Project, St.Joseph’s in collaboration with CCPCR has been resiliently endeavoring to give maximum impetus to take forward the mission of GIP (uplifting the Girl Child) for the last three years by effectively shouldering the responsibility of providing expertise and mentorship to empower this project.

Celebrating third year of collaboration and progress under GIP and chasing the vision behind SDG4 i.e Quality Education, a mega event was organised at St.Joseph’s Sr.Sec.School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh in association with CCPCR to mark the 9th Foundation Day of CCPCR which was attended by teams from GMSSS Sector 44 and 53 Chandigarh.Devoted to the idea to create an environment where children are a priority, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights(CCPCR) has been constituted under Section 17 of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights CCPCR Act,2005.

Chasing a vision that if we succeed in empowering less privileged children, we will succeed in everything else. CCPCR under the able leadership of Ms. Harjinder Kaur initiated many programmes to embrace the marginalized children and to focus on creating collaborative spaces that elevate them with countless opportunities for learning and empowering each child. Setting another milestone in the earnest endeavor to empower girls across the world, CCPCR along with Yuvsatta jointly launched ‘Girl’ India Project’. Driven by the vision to make Girl’s India project a success a plethora of activities has been conducted by all the partner schools till date to provide every opportunity to these girls to rise and shine.
The event began with welcoming the esteemed Chief Guest Ms. Harjinder Kaur, chairperson CCPCR and other distinguished guests from CCPCR with planters. A special token of love, a specially designed turban and a badge was bestowed on Mrs Harjinder Kaur by the revered Principal Ms. Monica Chawla symbolizing belief in her able mentorship. In keeping with the signature style of the Josephian family, Teams from GMSSS , Sector 53 and 44 were also warmly welcomed with traditional tilak, flowers, badges and turbans and got to indulge in a photo session which brought a ready smile to their faces.
.This was followed by releasing a specially designed Calendar by St Joseph’s displaying all the activities conducted under GIP lead by Coordinator Ms. Ranipal and incharge of G.I.P Ms. Anita Gareja. A Nukkad Natika was also staged which shared the humble initiatives undertaken to create awareness regarding SDG4 i.e Quality Education under the Girls India Project. Being a front runner in crafting games and toys Josephites took an opportunity to demonstrate their Science and Mathematics toys. This was followed by a mentoring session organised by St Joseph’s for GMSSS, Sector 25 and 44 students.
An enlightening talk on career counseling was also given by Mr.Mukesh Sethi who has been working in the Education Department since 2006 and has various degrees to his credit.
The worthy Principal Ms. Monica Chawla shared the report of all the empowering endeavours undertaken under GIP so far. The guests became nostalgic visualizing a very well-crafted presentation that was a testimony of our journey of GIP till date.
The highlight of the day was the Presentation Session’ in which all the participating schools showcased their presentations depicting all the activities conducted under GIP.Best presentations were felicitated with certificates and momentos as a token of appreciation and motivation for them. Teachers who have done commendable work under Girl’ India Project’ were also felicitated with certificates. Special award was given to the students from GMSSS,Sector 25 for presentation of the game specially designed for them by St. Joseph’s.
The Programme ended with inspiring words from Ms. Harjinder Kaur who praised the efforts of all the partner schools for making the Girls India Project a grand success. She heartily appreciated Ma’am Monica Chawla Principal St.Joseph’s for working as a leader in various collaborative programmes and drives and for sharing their best practices in order to make the learning process effective and interesting for all the schools.
She reiterated the fact that how a single candle can light so many more and how a single step can bring about a revolution. The management member l appreciated the conscientious efforts of the students, marking each innovative venture with perfection. Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla thanked the chief guest for her encouraging words. She further appreciated the team CCPCR for their vision and mission to equip all the children with required 21st century skills. The honourable Principal Monica Chawla congratulated all the winners and motivated them to keep on working hand in hand to realise the vision behind SDG4 and GIP.
