The students and staff at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh, celebrated World Earth day, pledging their commitment towards Mother Earth. Tolerance, forgiveness, caring and giving are some of the qualities which can be synonymously used for our Mother Earth, who is our creator and nurturer and possesses the innate quality to offer selflessly. The Josephian family, has always been committed towards creating a sustainable Earth for all and directs all its efforts towards this goal, not just on Earth Day, but every single day in the calendar.
The World Earth day was marked with myriad activities. The students of the Kindergarten block made book marks in the shape of the earth. Nature walk with ‘Earth day’ banner and other slogans related to save earth were carried out. Young artists of Class 1 and 2 actively participated in a colouring competition .Students of Primary Block 2 took a pledge to save Mother Earth by motivating others to practice the three R’s system i.e, to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The students of Class 5 created an aura of poetic world through an “English Recitation Competition.”
The children of the Middle block participated in a rally sending across a message, to understand how fragile our planet is and how important it is, to protect it. The highlight of the celebrations was everyone joining hands and pledging their devotion and taking onus to create a plastic free world. Poetry recitals with meaningful messages highlighted the significance of conservation of resources. Students of the Secondary block took part in an Inter class, board making competition with the theme being, ‘Invest in our planet.’ The celebration of World Earth Day marked yet another milestone towards the schools commitment to a greener and cleaner planet.
The Management Members, Mr. Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal appreciated the efforts of the students as they marked each innovative venture with perfection. The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla in her message to the students conveyed, that it is our collective responsibility to protect and nurture our planet. She also added that Earth Day is about expressing gratitude to Mother Earth for her kindness and reiterating our commitment to take care of our planet.
