In today’s fast paced competitive world we all have become so occupied with many things that we have put our health on the back seat. Fast food and lack of proper sleep schedule are damaging our health and we are becoming victims to many lifestyle related diseases and disorders. It is a major concern and needs to be addressed promptly.
Taking an initiative to bring good health and well being of all Josephites and their families, St. Joseph’s School have tied up with Tarang Health Alliance, an NGO under the leadership of Dr. Rahul Mehra who is National Representative of India, UNESCO Chair for Global Health & Education. Its mission is to promote health education in schools so that Indian children can grow up to be healthy & realize their full potential. He has developed a Comprehensive School Health Program and a curriculum on Health Education. He was accompanied with Ms. Leena Khaneja and Ms. Gurleen Sawhney, who are having extensive experience of promoting healthy habits among school children.
Presently this is being introduced in Class VI and Dr. Mehra addressed the premier session with the students. He explained the value of right and mindful eating. He also emphasised that health is a sum total of physical, mental and social well being of and individual.
The school Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla also addressed the students. She focused on students committing to a healthy lifestyle by reducing junk food consumption and ensuring intake of a balanced diet each day. She also honoured the guests with beautiful planters. The program was flagged off with the students making a promise to adopt healthy habits and also spread the message of healthy living in their families.
