The Eco Club of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh in alliance with Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta- NGO organized an Inter School Skit Competition under LFE- Lifestyle for Sustainability. The event aimed at fostering teamwork, creativity and environmental consciousness amongst the students. The platform served to showcase their acting skills while addressing critical issues related to resource conservation. The theme of the contest aligns with the Indian led Global mass movement to augment individual and community action to preserve the environment which was coined by our honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi at COP 26 at Glasglow.
Various reputed schools of the city took part in the contest showcasing their acting abilities through thought provoking narratives and persuasive story telling. Mr. Brij Bhushan, Scientist, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration graced the event as the chief guest. A distinguished panel of judges included Ms. Poonam, Mr. Sandeep Joshi and Mr. Ranjit, all renowned artists and environmentalist. Focusing on the theme of sustainable utilization of the resources, the children highlighted key aspects such as renewable energy, waste reduction and management, water conservation and responsible consumption. The talented students astounded their audience and the judges through their thought invoking exemplary performance.
At the end of the nail biting competition, three teams were judged as the top three performers of the day. The teams included Mount Carmel, Chandigarh, Gurukul Global, Chandigarh and GMSSS, Dhanas. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates to mark their excellence. Participants from various schools were also awarded with participating certificates.
The panel of judges praised the commendable efforts and the praise worthy performance of all the participants and congratulated them their commitment to make a positive impact for a greener and bluer planet. The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the participants and the winners and urged them for mindful and deliberate utilisation of resources instead of mindless consumption, to preserve our environment. She motivated the students to engage in creative exploration and collaboration to help gain insights into sustainable practices and inspire others too to embrace a more environmentally conscious ways of life.
She also thanked the management members Mr.Sukhdeep Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep Grewal for their continuous guidance and support in going out of way to create an everlasting impact on the minds of the students.
