“If nature has made you for a giver, your hands are born open and so is your heart; and though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is always full…” – Frances Hodgson Burnett
The act of giving is an important value inculcated in the young minds at St. Joseph’s school. As part of the celebrations of Independence Day, the young students donated personal hygiene items and accessories to the poor and the handicapped. These were distributed to the needy people in Sector 44 Gurdwara, Sector 45 Gaushala and to the poor at Sector 49 temple.
Parents and teachers looking to inspire their children to give back will appreciate Brian Tracy’s unforgettable words to, “Always give without remembering and receive without forgetting. ”Also a valuable learning for young minds, that each one of us can experience the joy and blessing of generosity; because everyone has something to give. Mentors also spoke to their students and gave examples of people who thrive in their lives, were the ones who had made room for well-being, wisdom, wonder, and giving. They were taught that no matter what form generosity takes, it adds something to the world and it is only by giving that one is able to receive more than you already have. As Lao Tzu rightly said, “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
Appreciating the efforts of the teachers and students the members of the School Management, Mr. Sukhdeep S. Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep S. Grewal inspired the Josephian family to follow the path of kindness and compassion and to cover the gap between the haves and have nots.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla, under whose guidance this initiative was undertaken said, that such nobel endeavors will be carried out in future too, as at a young and impressionable age, children learn the value of giving. She mentioned the great Maya Angelou who stated that, “When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”
After a fruitful day of receiving plenty of blessings, students returned back to their school happy and satisfied with a day well spent. Here’s to the joy of giving, and a season that’s as bountiful as it is meaningful.
