St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, in collaboration with the Dept. of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh, organised a Blood Donation Camp at the school campus. The drive was a grand success, with 77 units of blood donated by generous volunteers.
This event was a great example of the compassion and selflessness of the community, as participants came together to make a life-saving difference.
The initiative emphasised the importance of donating blood for humanitarian reasons, underscoring the idea that one’s participation in such activities can bring significant changes to society.
The event was conducted with the utmost care, following all necessary protocols to ensure every drop of blood collected could be used to preserve precious lives.
Notable alumni members Gurpreet Kaur, Himanshu, Hiten, and Ramanpreet Singh also returned to their alma mater to contribute towards the philanthropic effort.
Donating blood is imperative, as it helps save lives. In fact, every few minutes, someone needs blood. Since blood cannot be manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must be constantly replenished by generous and selfless blood donors. Although many people donate blood after disasters, it is needed every single day.
Members of management, Mr. Sukhdeep S. Grewal and Mr. Paramdeep S. Grewal, were grateful to all those who thought of coming forth for this noble cause. They mentioned how donors provide the only supply of life-saving blood for those in need, for, as they say, ‘when you give, others live’.
The principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, stated that though donating blood takes only a few minutes of one’s time, it can make a lifelong difference to someone. She stressed that the gift of blood is indeed, a gift for someone’s life.
As the camp was held within the school premises, it became not just an event but a great example for young children to see how selflessly people came forward to donate blood and be the reason for someone’s existence.
A great learning for the future young and healthy blood donors.
