 Collaborative Science Mela Connects Classrooms, Communities, and Curiosity

St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School in collaboration with various Government Schools organized a Science Mela to help the students explore the marvels of Science. The school carried self-designed innovative games and demonstrations from the syllabus of Classes 7, 8, and 9 for the inquisitive minds of various schools, namely, GHS, sector 53, GMSSS, sector 37-D, GMHS, sector 27, and GMS, Karsan. Realizing the vision of the Management and celebrating their commitment to contribute to society fueled the energy and zeal amongst the Science department to gear up for this. The three-day Science Extravaganza is in alignment with the schools aim to make Science exciting, relevant and inclusive while promoting critical thinking, collaboration and love for learning.

Science Mela after the magnanimous feat of Maths Mela was another glorious chapter added in the book of collaboration of the educators of St. Joseph’s School and Government Schools together. This remarkable collaborative Endeavor with Govt Schools of city beautiful, which is the brainchild of the Principal Ms. Monica Chawla is to ensure that the vision of NEP and NCF are achieved by every learner.

The event encompassed many exhilarating elements like Board Games to solve puzzles , Heat Mania, Spinning wheels to elaborate digestive system and various reproductive parts of the flowers to name a few. Interactive exhibits helped students as well as grown-ups to delve deeper into the mysterious yet logical world of Science through hands on displays. Live demonstrations of various experiments left everyone awestruck challenging their inquisitive minds. The live demonstrations included , Rainbow Bubble Snake, Reflection of Sound, Invisible Ink, Candle Burning under Water, Rain Water Shower, Dancing Corn, Magical Balloon, Lava Lamp to name a few. The students from various schools got an opportunity to interact with the scientific minds who shared their love and passion for Science and inspired one and all to pursue careers in the field of STEM.

A walk through the amazing display of Science Walls at the Science Mela was nothing less than an embarking on a sensory safari through the jungle called ‘Laboratory’. They painted a vivid picture of various elements, discoveries, inventions, wonders of Science, sparking curiosity and satiating the curiosity of the passionate learners. The event came to an end on a successful note as the hall reverberated with echoes of positive reactions, a testament to the accomplishment of the desired mission of nurturing scientific minds. The young minds shared the newly acquired knowledge and discussed their favorite exhibits with a beaming smile and a promise to fuel future dreams.

The Principals from various schools expressed their pride and gratitude to St. Joseph’s team for bring this Mela to their door doorstep. Ms. Monica Chawla, Principal, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School shared how overwhelmed she was witnessing the students transform into budding Einsteins, Da Vincis and Curies of tomorrow. She remarked that the success of the event was evidently proven by the gleaming eyes, triumphant shouts and endless queries which would open so many new doors to endless possibilities.
