“Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give”.
Small acts of kindness can have a big impact. To fulfil the meaning of the above slogan, the Peace Club of St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh, has once again spread positivity and happiness through Wall of Kindness project to motivate people to leave their extra goods at this specially prepared ‘Wall of Kindness – Neki Ki Diwar’.
This unique human project was first started in Iran where people prepared special ‘Walls of Kindness’ on boundary walls of their homes with hangers to hang extra clothes, jackets, shoes, anything which is extra at home and can be given away to someone in need. The peace club of the school identified one outer wall of the school for the aforesaid initiative and urged school staff, students and their parents to make contributions to promote the humane endeavour.
Charities fill the gaps and provide dedicated resources to help the most vulnerable. The staff and students brought unused items I.e. stationery, clothes, toiletries etc. in good quantity, for charity to be given away to the ones in need. It made students feel good and compassionate. Compassion towards the poor and unfortunate is an essential virtue for every human being. When we donate to a charity, we not only help them continue their vital work, it improves our emotional wellbeing also, a win-win situation!
The school Management and Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, appreciated the tireless efforts of the school’s Peace Club to introduce the concept of love and compassion for all and the idea to expel xenophobia from every heart so that the world we live in becomes a better place. They emphasized further that cherishing these blissful moments of helping others in their worst situation is another level of achievement in the era of bleakness and hollowness.
She also acknowledged the need to involve students in more thought-provoking activities where they learn big life lessons in an easy way.
