Participating in the 50th Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini 2023, a conscious effort of NCERT held in Pune has been an enlightening experience for the two students Riya Goel and Vanshika of St. Joseph’s Sr Sec. School, Sector 44D, Chandigarh. The Opening Ceremony was graced with the presence of the Governor of Pune and other dignitaries.
The duo were elated to have been selected for the second level to present their Mathematics Exhibits named
Let’s Play Let’s Learn under the theme ‘Mathematics for All’ wherein the Josephians had created a game named Probability King on the concepts of Probability and it’s applications in real life.
Another game crafted by them was termed ‘2D to 3 D Magic’ which aimed at making the understanding of 2D and 3D shapes very easy and practical for students. It showed how a 2D shape adopts a 3D shape on rotating it. Also how the 3D shapes are made up of nets and on folding a net, it tranforms into a 3D shape. The students also exhibited that the cross sections of vegetables have different shapes and that the shadow of a 3D shape is a 2D shape.
The Josephians along with their teacher Ms. Lovely Sharma, who accompanied them on the trip, were full of praise for the growth-oriented organisers for creating a platform that not only fosters a love for Science and Mathematics, but also encourages young minds to explore the wonders of the world around them. The students were delighted to avail the opportunity of interacting with the Honorable Governor of Pune, Shri Ramesh Bais, Deputy Chief Minister, the Education Minister and meeting so many distinguished guests. They also enjoyed the one hour lectures that were delivered everyday which helped them gain insight into various concepts of Science.
The Members of the School Management and the Principal congratulated Riya and Vanshika for their outstanding endeavours. The students in turn expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards their institution and teachers who leave no stone unturned in helping children to obtain their potential and provide ample opportunities for them to shine.
Principal Ms. Monica Chawla expressed her admiration and appreciation for the team at NCERT, who conducted the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini, bringing together students from across the nation and recognising their conscientious efforts and boosting their confidence.
