 Faculty Flourishing Forum conducts another session on Banking Habits

An awareness session for teachers of St. Josephs school, Chandigarh was Organised by Reserve Bank of India, Chandigarh on May 13, 2024 with a focus on Adopting Banking Habits, Safe Digital Banking, Cybercrime and frauds, familiarization with the helplines and redressal mechanism etc. The occasion was graced by Smt. Anuradha Sahu, Deputy General Manager, Sh. Vikram Dhaanda, Assistant General Manager and other officials and staff of CEPC, Chandigarh Regional Office. The session was attended by more than 130 teachers of St. Josephs School, Chandigarh.

 

The programme began with Ms. Shimmi, Program Coordinator, St. Josephs School welcoming the guests and the participants. This was followed by Km Jyoti, Assistant, Integrated Banking Department, RBI, Chandigarh who gave an overview of the awareness program and began a session on ‘Digital Awareness’. The session emphasized on the transition from a cash driven society to a less-cash society and terminologies in the world of Digital Banking. The participants were familiarized with the ease and scope of digital payments and various modes of digital banking such as Real Time Gross Settlement System, National Electronic Fund Transfer, Immediate Payment Service, Unified Payment Interface, USSD Based *99# etc. They were also made aware about the prevalence of various digital frauds and advised to be more vigilant while engaging in digital transactions. The main objective of the session was to create awareness about Safety and Security while making Digital Payments. Thereafter, Smt. Sugandha Dinker, Assistant Manager, CEPC started a session on ‘Consumer Awareness and Protection’. She mentioned about the importance of a proactive approach and taking precautionary measures for safe digital banking, such as refraining from opening links and attachments from untrustworthy sources, using public WIFI for online banking, ensure secure browsing, not to share banking details, enable transaction alerts for real-time updates, setting unique passwords for each account etc. The session also focused on reporting of unauthorized activity promptly to National Cyber Crime Portal and to the concerned bank. The participants were made aware of the grievance redressal mechanism available at bank’s level i.e., ‘Internal Ombudsman’ and at RBI’s level i.e., ‘RBI Ombudsman’. They were also made aware about the helpline numbers and availability of CMS portal of RBI where complaints can be lodged online. At the end of the session, a quiz was also organised by Sh. Sunil, Assistant, CEPC wherein the teachers participated actively.

Smt. Anuradha Sahu, DGM encouraged the participants to further disseminate the information received from the sessions especially among their students and also with their peers, family, social circle etc. The session ended with a vote of thanks to the participants and organizing team, RBI, Chandigarh.
