 Innovative Pedagogies Workshop

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.”

 

As part of the capacity-building programme, a CBSE workshop entitled ‘Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies” was held at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D Chandigarh on 1st July 2024. The workshop was conducted by resource persons Ms. Veena Singh, an education consultant, and Ms. Sangeeta Sharma, Principal of Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab.

 

In the opening session, Ms. Veena Singh began with an activity where educators introduced themselves, setting a collaborative and engaging tone for the workshop. The primary focus of the workshop was Competency-Based Education, emphasizing the importance of motivating students to become lifelong learners equipped with knowledge and life skills.

 

Ms. Sangeeta Sharma highlighted the necessity for lesson plans to have clear and specific objectives, methodologies, teaching aids, and learning styles to ensure effective and productive learning.She emphasized on the importance of the teaching-learning cycle.Ms. Veena Singh elaborated on the salient features of Bloom’s Taxonomy, discussing its objectives and outcomes in education.She conducted activity-based learning experiences where participants shared their views and experiences. She emphasized on identifying the domain and cognitive levels of educational outcomes.She conducted an activity where participants identified these aspects.

Participants engaged in various activities designed to enhance their skills in preparing lesson plans and creating assessment rubrics with all essential elements. The role of pedagogy was highlighted, demonstrating how understanding different learning styles and needs can improve classroom teaching and the overall quality of education.

 

The revered Principal Ms. Monica Chawla shared her thoughts at the end of the workshop“In our pursuit of excellence in education, it is essential to continually evolve and adapt our teaching methodologies.She stated that “This workshop is a step towards empowering our educators with the tools and techniques necessary to enhance learning outcomes and nurture lifelong learners.”She also expressed her gratitude towards both resource persons, Ms. Veena Singh and Ms. Sangeeta Sharma, for being an integral part of these sessions and contributing their valuable insights and expertise.

 

The workshop was interactive, informative, and engaging. A quote by Albert Einstein encapsulated the workshop’s ethos: “I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” The session concluded with an assessment for all participants and a vote of thanks, marking the end of a fruitful learning experience for the teachers.
