“Mango Mela: Where Every Bite is a Celebration!”
Come summer and the air is filled with the fragrance of mango blossoms taking us all on a trip down memory, reminding us all of our childhood. The King of Fruit holds a special place in our hearts which is aptly celebrated in the vibrant and culturally rich Mango Mela, organized by Haryana Tourism in association with the Horticulture Department, at Yadwindra Gardens, Pinjore on 13th and 14th of July. This festival celebrated the essence of summer with a myriad of activities and competitions, welcoming participants from all over the region. St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh, like every year proudly participated in this grand event, showcasing their talent and creativity in various competitions.
The Mango Mela, known for its celebration of the ‘King of Fruits’, provided a platform for students to express their creativity and talent. The festival featured a variety of events such as story writing, handwriting, drawing, and the innovative ‘Best Out of Waste’ competition, encouraging students to showcase their skills in a competitive yet festive environment.
Josephites excelled in multiple categories, earning accolades and making their school proud. Among the notable achievements:Lavanya’s remarkable storytelling skills and Vanya’s creative narrative abilities, which earned them both First prizes in the Short Story Writing Competition, were particularly commendable. Lavanya’s story, brimming with imagination and depth, captivated the judges and audience alike.Navinder clinched the Second Position in Slogan Making. Shivraj also secured the Second Prize in Handwriting.Ekamjeet earned the Third Prize in Drawing while Aayan received a Consolation Prize .Anwita and Diva were recognized for their Supportive Nature during the event.
Ms. Anita Gereja, the Activity In-charge, not only accompanied the students to the two-day Mango Mela Festival at Pinjore Gardens but also captivated the audience with her mesmerizing poetry recitation and outstanding oratory skills. Her performance was met with high praise from the organizers, significantly enhancing the festival’s cultural ambiance.
Last year, despite heavy rains, St. Joseph’s students participated enthusiastically in the Mango Mela and won many positions. This year too they have repeated their outstanding performance, once again achieving remarkable success across various categories.
The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla, in her message, expressed profound pride in her students’ accomplishments. She stated, “Our students have once again proven their mettle with their exemplary performances at the Mango Mela. They have not only showcased their talent but have also embraced the spirit of healthy competition and creativity. The dedication and hard work of our students, coupled with the unwavering support of our management, have led to these remarkable successes.
