The new session at St. Joseph’s commenced with a new spirit and vigour. The first few days served as a platform to enhance cordial teacher – student relationship. Students got the opportunity to acquaint themselves with their new teachers, classmates as well as the school and class rules.
Taking advantage of the early start of the session teachers revised the basic concepts through games, riddles and puzzles. Vocabulary enrichment was taken up by the language teachers and students learning words related to their day to day life. They cherished activities pertaining to Listening and Speaking skills. Children were also inspired to adopt an ethically upright and harmonious lifestyle with the motivational thoughts read and explained by the teachers.
Important Terms and Definitions were discussed in the Science and Social Science classes. Map Activity was also thoroughly enjoyed. Another exciting class was of course the Computer period where they got an opportunity to learn about the latest upgrades in technology and the importance of using the social networking sites wisely.
‘Dreamworld’ – A concept started by the Art teacher, was another favourite activity. Stories are narrated wherein students are made to imagine themselves as a character in the story and then are asked to draw the scene imagined by them. It was a fun filled activity meant to trigger the imaginative powers of the pupils.
In Hindi along with the clearing of the basic concepts, Doha Uchcharan (with their meanings) was emphasised upon to inculcate teachings of morality and living a meaningful life.
The phobia of Mathematics was cleverly dealt with, by playing games related to the concepts of integers. Puzzles and Riddles were other ways that were adopted to make Maths exciting.
Meditation , has been another tried and tested method to enhance the personality development. Light Channelling- introduced in the school by the Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla- has proved very beneficial for the spiritual and mental health of the children and will be a continued practice at the institution.
Students are enjoying these first few days and are enthusiastic and eager to come to school, which is after all the purpose of any good institution.
