 HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATED AT ST. JOSEPH’S

‘DESH KI AASHA – HINDI BHASHA’

Dr. Rajendra Prasad said, ‘A country that does not take pride in its language and literature can never progress.’ Taking these words to heart, the Hindi Department at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh really put in their heart and soul to mark Hindi Diwas on 14th September, 2017. This date i.e. 14thSeptember holds special significance as it was on this day in 1950 that the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, as the Official language of the Republic of India. Adhering to the spirit of the day, the entire Josephian family had a field day conversing freely in Hindi.

Under the able guidance of Ms. Anita Gareja HOD- Hindi Department at St. Joseph’s, the entire Hindi faculty came together to etch out a few programmes, highlighting the significance of our National language. A Haasya Kaavya Pratiyogita and a Prashanaavali were specially conducted for the entire Josephian faculty. True to its name, the Hindi Kaavya Pratiyogita was an entertaining and lively session which had everyone in splits.  Ms.Rashi of the Kindergarten Block bagged the first position, whereas the Second prize was awarded to Mr.Vinod Kumar and Ms.Meenu Singh of the Secondary Block won the Third prize, Ms. Anita Vimal of the Primary2 Block was the winner of Prashanaavali.

Sh. Madan Gupta Spatu, recipient of the Raj Bhasha Purraskar graced the occasion as Chief Guest. An MA in Hindi as well as Arthshashtra and a renowned astrologer, he said he felt gratified to see the school was putting in so much effort in ensuring that Hindi is being given its due. He went on to add that he had thoroughly enjoyed himself and was glad that he had attended the event.

Keeping in mind that September is a month of exams, students were involved in week long celebrations before the commencement of the examinations. Vigyaapan Lekhan and Pustak Chinhh (Bookmark) Making activities were conducted for classes VI & VII. An Inter Class Shlok Uccharan Pratiyogita was organized for the students of class VIII. The winners of this competition were Abhay, Chhavi and Advait who stood First, Second and Third respectively.  Gunjan and Shivam were awarded the Consolation for their efforts.

Principal Ms. Monica Chawla lauded the Hindi Department for organizing such a dynamic session that brought out the bubbly and vivacious side of the teaching staff. She thanked them for providing a much needed respite from the hectic schedule we all seem to follow and made a special mention of the well chosen Prashanaavali questions that actually added to one’s knowledge bank of Hindi words, phrases and sentences. She congratulated the winners and applauded their efforts in showcasing and bringing their talents to the fore.
