To create awareness among the people, about the deadly monster of noise Pollution, the students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School Sector 44 D Chandigarh in collaboration with Yuvsatta (NGO) organised a ‘No Honking Rally’ at Sector 17-18 Crossing. The students of class IV and V participated whole heartedly with great zeal and enthusiasm holding placards carrying a strong message conveying to be patient, polite and a good citizen while driving and significantly focus on NO Honking.The students appraised the public that relentless and unnecessary honking punishes our senses every day and is the major cause of road rage, anxiety, hypertension and sleep disorders. Hence it is important that we take note of the issue and take some serious steps to get rid of this menace of our City Beautiful.The Chandigarh Traffic officials motivated the children by giving stickers on No Honking to admire their efforts towards the noble cause.Mr Parmod ,President of Yuvsatta, NGO greatly appreciated the students who as young minds have taken a great initiative to make Chandigarh honking free. The Principal Ms. Monica Chawla was overwhelmed by the selfless efforts put in by the students to wipe out noise pollution through No Honking campaign from this city. She thanked Mr. Parmod for giving an opportunity to participate in this noble endeavor and Chandigarh Traffic Police in creating awareness among our students and public in making Chandigarh a beautiful and silent, No Honking city. The rally ended with a take home message “One should honk only when necessary.”
