To empower women in any untoward situation, the Swayam team of Women and Child Support of Chandigarh Police took the initiative to train all the girls in techniques of self defence on 3rd December,2018 at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School. In emergency situations, such trainings help the girls to sharpen their instinct and enhances their reaction time.Ms. Ranjana, an expert trainer in the field of self-defence, alongwith her team, educated and informed girls about the need for self-defence. She taught certain techniques like null, ignis, ready position and hoosh. Mental preparedness in advance to physical response is more effective to combat such situations. She added that these strategies cultivate in individuals the ability to remain alert yet calm at all times. Therefore, self defence training will assist girl students to become more aware of their surroundings and not to feel helpless in any situation. Girl students were very glad and eager to learn this defensive martial art. The enthusiasm among the girls was palpable. Mrs. Ranipal the Coordinator of Middle block extended a welcome bouquet to the team of trainers.The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla said that training of girls at our school in self defence will be imparted as a regular routine feature. It allows them the opportunity to defend themselves in the face of hard times.
