The students of Kindergarten block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh were taken to a visit to Sukhna lake, a Heritage site of Chandigarh. This lake is a water reservoir at the foothills of Shivalik hills. This rainfed lake facilitates for various water sports like boating, rowing, sculling etc. The students were informed about the exotic migratory birds like Siberian ducks, strokes and cranes. Children strolled through the jogging track and enjoyed the scenic beauty of nature. Children were motivated to save water and plant more trees. They were informed about the causes and impact of water pollution and advised not to litter here and there but use trash bins only for the disposal of waste. They were encouraged to conserve environment and not to deface public places, for cleaner and greener surroundings. They were guided to preserve our cultural heritage and do their part for its growth.
