St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School 12th class students observed World Health Day by taking out an awareness drive at Sector 26 Fruit and Vegetable market for curbing the sale of artificial ripened fruits and veggies. They further participated in Nutritious Snacks preparation competition in the school premises WORLD HEALTH DAY IS A “UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE EVERYWHERE” was the slogan followed by the students to re-create awareness. This day deals with health, specifically to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.”The visit emphasized on curbing the illegal adulteration practices as it has hazardous effects on mankind.With an aim to strive towards the promotion of healthier living standards these activities involved young minds hands on work. It is said ‘A healthy outside starts from inside’, so post awareness drive; the students participated in groups of 3-6 for healthy snacks preparation competition.Food competitions make us salivate with mouthwatering dishes and recipes. Students posing as Chefs exhibited some easy-peasy recipes on their spic and span tables. They displayed their culinary skills that motivated their age mates to not indulge in junk-food hogging and opt for alternative healthier snacks.The sumptuous laid dishes were not only healthy but a delight to look on, pleasing our taste buds. The judgment scale incorporated components like Nutrient value, Hygiene, Presentation and Taste.The dishes that outshined in the competition were Coconut Laddu, Bean chat, Banana Smoothie, Corn Wraps, Musk-melon Fruit basket, Biscuit Express, Oats Slush and Apple Cookie. Most of the dishes were delectable for Gourmets.The students were seen using their imagination for the novel product of their creation. Abiding by the USAD standards they also displayed the nutrition value of their items on their tables. The Judges Ms. Shimmi Jassal and Ms. Shelza Arora applauded the efforts of all participants and said that one need not eat less but just eat right.
