A bin-making activity was conducted on the 15th of April by Ashoka House in the Secondary block at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D. It was not the usual bin-making activity but the students were to make bins which were eco-friendly with no use of any sort of plastic material. The theme was Go-Green and the students did complete justice to the given theme by using newspapers and cardboard. The aim of the activity was to make children understand the importance of re-using and recycling material in a manner that is not damaging in any way to the environment. Going green is a matter of choice which needs to be embraced by young children so as to contribute towards the betterment of the planet. The children enjoyed this activity and decorated the bins in creative ways. Students learnt a valuable lesson while doing this activity- it was to reuse, rebuild, refinish and recycle. Such an important lesson for young minds, the future caretakers of the planet. It was a day usefully spent and done for our planet- a fine place and surely worth looking after.
