St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School’s educators partook in workshop on ‘Strategies to handle Slow Learners’ in wake to the escalating numbers of intellectual learning. Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla chaired the workshop as the key note speaker.It is said that, every child has a background story, the onus lies on the educators to be the one they tell it to. In today’s scenario most of the passionate educator’s strain to outstand as galvanizing, inspiring, dedicated and transforming trainers. They put in their heart and soul to aid all kind of learners. The workshop emphasized on putting in laborious efforts in a planned manner to ameliorate the slow learners.St. Joseph’s edupreneurs strongly believe that the Wheel of Innovation in Education drives the growth and learning towards the Level Next. During this workshop Madam Chawla formulated a methodology ‘PEER-FIT ’for teachers to follow while handling students who are step away from excelling in academics. It reflects that every child should fit in the peer group as far as academic caliber and performance is concerned.
Madam guided the educators to follow step by step the process of ‘PEER –FIT’ commencing with P-Parent intimation, E– Encouraging the child, E – Efforts need to be consistent R– Record Maintenance to gauge the growth curve, F-Follow up with stakeholders, I– Identify the positive changes and appreciate, T– Technique Upgradation. It is always essential to revisit and enhance the techniques of handholding the slow learners by reading more journals to get acquainted to the best practices around the globe.
Ms. Chawla accentuated on gifting children their self-esteem and creating opportunities for students. Madam said that it is the prime aim of the disciplinarians to upgrade the learning level. The success mantra “Why hide, when you can seek” should be the key for learners who are in the grip of fear, inferiority complex, shyness and are introvert; the mentors should own these learners and nurture them to come out of their inhibitions and hesitations.This workshop was a step towards accomplishing the vision of the school “Learning is more than absorbing facts, it is acquiring Understanding, Teaching is more than imparting Knowledge, it is imparting Change.”
