‘Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well’- Aristotle
It is an undisputed fact that great teachers help create great students. Under the Educator’s Endeavour towards excellence- 3 E programme initiated by the principal Ms. Monica Chawla, Ms. Paramjit conducted a workshop on ‘Classroom Etiquettes ’at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School. Research shows that an inspiring and informed teacher is the most important school related factor influencing student’s achievement. Having recognized this crucial element of teacher development, Ms. Paramjit guided the edupreneurs and offered a range of methods to be employed in the classrooms.
The workshop emphasized on the importance of punctuality in one’s life and to be a patient listener. She also highlighted the importance of praying signifying the true meaning of Namaskar. Thumb signifies family, index finger represents the instructors, middle finger represents power, ring finger represents weaker section and the little finger symbolizes an individual himself. This portrays praying for the entire universe. The variety of anecdotes, sharing of best practices allowed the educators the time and opportunity to apply their learning of theory in the context of teaching in a real classroom. The educators were equipped with all the requisite skills which will ensure successful teaching and learning. Further, the workshop aimed to develop behavior management, classroom management techniques and innovative methods of teaching. This workshop was a step towards accomplishing the vision of the school “It’s not about what to teach but how to teach.”
