An Intra Class English Calligraphy Competition was conducted for the classes III,IV and V of Primary II Block of St. Joseph’s. Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44D, Chandigarh. The purpose of this competition was to improve presentation skills and to inculcate the habit of good handwriting which has declined due to growing interest in computers and smartphones.
All the students participated with extraordinary zeal and enthusiasm. The teachers gave a paragraph from the text to be written. The assessment was done by the teachers on the basis of writing style, curves and patterns, legibility and beautification.The principal, Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated the winners. She stated that this era of smart gadgets and keyboard proficiency has given rise to “handwriting crisis”among today’s generation. Such competitions turn out to be very meaningful for the students as Calligraphy not only improve writing skills but also teach students about their unique structure and beauty of the language.
