‘A teacher is a pebble thrown in the pond that creates a ripple of change”
St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School teachers and students have decided to mark this Teacher’s day by undertaking a philanthropic gesture for not so privileged students and integrating them into mainstream of social life.
The teaching fraternity, functions on the dictum of ‘noble deeds through a noble profession’; St. Joseph’s teachers undertook the campaign to extend their affection towards the students of Institute for Blind (Sector 26). Standing true to the vision of the institute for Blind the Josephian teachers and students got involved with a missionary spirit, contributing their best help to nurture visually impaired.
In an endeavour to integrate them, a talk on their health and hygiene was conducted. The motive was loud and clear that they need to be sensitized about their personal health and social factors. The accompanying students regaled the blind students by singing few songs, playing games related to songs and dancing. Apart from this, donations in kind were also made to the institute for the students’ help. Subtle moments were experienced when few blind students shared their anecdotes. The founder Director of the Institute for Blind applauded the efforts of the Josephian family and said that the earnest attempt is to provide these children the opportunities needed for self-reliance and all-round development of their personality.Director, Mr. Rupinder Singh Grewal said that it is indispensable to inspire zest and zeal in the not so privileged sections of the society, so that creation of equal opportunities is ensured. He further emphasised on inculcating amongst the learners, value of happiness derived out of the gesture of giving.
