To make Plastic Free Chandigarh has become a motto that every Josephian now lives by. Students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School,Sector 44-D, Chandigarh, are the proud torchbearers of the “ Say No To Single Use Plastic” Campaign launched by Chandigarh Administration to promote no single use plastic in the city. Under this campaign various programmes are being carried out in the city in association with Department of Environment. After hosting a plethora of activities related to the theme of ‘Plastic Free Chandigarh’, the Eco Saviours took part in a rally as an endeavour to carry out awareness in the adjoining areas regarding the aforesaid campaign. The Josephians set a standard for others to follow for genuinely using plastic free substances. The rally flagged of with the blessings of the Principal Monica Chawla from the school. The Eco Saviours were well appreciated by everyone they met along the way as they all raised bright and colourful posters and banners mirroring the dire need of a Plastic Free Chandigarh. Well known for their forte in performing nukkad nataks, the Josephians were invited to enact an on the spot skit which earned a well deserved applause from the entire gathering.The presence of American Gandhi Mr. Bernie Meyer – the brand Ambassador of annual Global Youth Peace Fest of Yuvsatta boosted the morale of the Eco Saviours.
All these activities have become a regular features at St. Joseph’s to invoke, inspire and inculcate awareness about saving the environment.
