The smiling face of every little girl is the signature of God’s presence.
In keeping with this sentiment, students and staff members of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with great fervor and enthusiasm.
Firm believers in the notion that Girl Education is the best investment for any society or nation, St Joseph’s has always been a front runner in the cause to raise consciousness regarding the rights of the girl child. In association with the Yuvsatta, The Josephians planned and carried out a unique PINK TURBAN CAMPAIGN wherein the girls came adorned in Pink turbans while boys proudly wore Pink stoles to promote the dignity of all girls/women in society.A Rally was organized for the students of the Middle Block which was a ‘sea of pink’ as the children literally burst forth from the four walls of their institution, fully raring to go. The atmosphere was wholly charged as the Josephians’ Rally was flagged off after seeking the blessings of Principal Ms. Monica Chawla. Chanting slogans like : Educated girl is like a boon, she brings society’s fortune;A girl is a gift of nature; educate her for bright future, their zest and zeal was truly infectious. The secondary block celebrated the occasion by a talk by legal club incharge Ms Simran who highlighted the need to weed out the inequality for the girl child and work for her betterment in the society. The students also made bookmarks with quotes on women empowerment.
Ms. Chawla herself, a great champion for this cause, she said that it was the foremost responsibility of any educational institution to empower the girl child because it is these girls who have the power to transform lives whether it be their own or that of the family, community, nation or the world.
