St Joseph’s Sr.Sec.School, Sector 44, Chandigarh in its continuous efforts to spread the message of ‘Smoke free, breathe free Diwali’ took out an “ANTI CRACKER RALLY” on Friday October 25, 2019 at Elante Mall and Sukhna Lake. Around 50 students of classes 7 and 8 participated in the event which lasted almost five hours.Through this campaign the students inspired the general public to say no to crackers and yes to pollution free Diwali. The rally gave the students a platform to present to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali and made the people aware about the dangers of pollution.The rally received an overwhelming response from the general public and many people promised to go green on this Diwali.
The School also wore a festive look. Raman house conducted a Rangoli making competition and a Diya and candle decoration competition for students to express their joy and enjoy the festivities. The whole school reverberated with energy and enthusiasm hoping that this year the Green Diwali would bring prosperity and harmony in everyone’s life. By donating the decorated diyas and candles for the ‘Wall of Kindness’ Josephians proved that true celebrations mean sharing joy with poor and underprivileged children who are otherwise deprived of the pleasure of these celebrations.
Ms. Monica Chawla, the Principal appreciated this endeavor of the students and encouraged them to maintain this spirit for celebrating every festival.
