In today’s digital world, children are drifting away from Indian culture and traditions. They do not know much about its roots. Kindergarten block of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh organized a trip to ‘Chokhi Dhani’ located in Panchkula, based on Rajasthani heritage. It is a quintessential village that offers an ideal pastoral experience. Away from the urban life the quaint mud and thatch dwellings in the resort give the right blend of traditions and modern amenities in typical ethnic environment. It is decorated with a number of artifacts collected from various parts of Rajasthan and purely hand crafted materials. Little Josephians were warmly welcomed with the beats of traditional dhol and tilak. A number of enchanting shows like puppet, magic, potter’s wheel, bioscope, acrobatics of ‘nats’ and Kalbeliya dance left the tiny-tots awestruck with their unique style and perfection. They were also enthralled with the artistic culture i.e. ghati, jungle devta, cave, bhulbhulaiya and padmavati johar. Later they enjoyed the delicacies of the city. It was an adventurous trip for the Josephians, full of joy and excitement where they captured the spirit of Rajasthan and had a perfect experience in a unique village resort.
