The auspicious harvest festival of lohri was celebrated with religious fervour and exuberance as the whole school was embellished with colourful buntings, balloons and kites. But the highlight of lohri celebration was the supreme singing sensation of Punjab Dr. Satinder Sartaj as the chief guest. Boys and girls traditionally dressed along with 6 Junior Sartaj (students dressed like him) welcomed him with Dhol beats.

This multifaceted personality is more than just a singer, a poet, songwriter, music composer and an actor. The sacred bonfire was lit by the Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. Satinder Sartaj, the Principal, the members of the management Mr. Sukhdeep Singh and Mr. Paramdeep S. Grewal.

Dr. Satinder Sartaj captivated the audience by singing songs that reflected the rich tradition and culture of Punjab. His magical voice electrified the aura. He spoke to the students and asked them to remain grounded to the motherland.

The Sufi singing of this humble and grounded singer speaks about his popularity in India and overseas.A variety programme was organised to mark the celebration of Lohri. The melodious songs of Sartaj Ji sung by Ms. Ruby mesmerized the audience, even self composed poems and songs were sung by teachers and students in his honour.10+2 girls presented a skit on gender equality.

A token of gratitude, a planter, his favourite book, a poem written on him duly framed, a sketch of the superstar and a souvenir with his photograph were presented to him as a remembrance from the Josephian family.

Principal Ms. Monica Chawla thanked Dr. Satinder Sartaj for gracefully accepting the invitation and making the lohri celebration the most memorable one. Dr. Sartaj inspired the young Josephians to stay rooted to their rich culture and tradition while following their dreams. Member of the Management emphasized that lohri prompts the people to be thankful to God for his innumerable blessings and encouraged the teachers to play a vital role to keep the tradition and culture alive through meaningful celebration of the festivals.

Finally the day could enable the entire Josephian Family to capture some unforgettable and most cherishable moments of the day with their favourite sufi singer Dr. Satinder Sartaj and were speechless in expressing their deep gratitude towards him for his valuable time and maiden visit to their school.
