St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec.School, Chandigarh got one more feather added to its cap as Shivranjini Aggarwal, a student of IX D has been awarded 1st rank in the Tricity in the Hindustan Times National Talent Hunt and won a golden trophy and a cash prize of 25000 INR. Shivranjini Aggarwal, throughout a topper has participated in many other competitions and made everyone proud by winning trophies and medals. She is a State Champion in Chess and state bronze medalist in Football. She is a book lover and the Raman House prefect as well. This programme, one of several initiatives by HT in the field of education was launched in 2011 in Mumbai. The HT Scholarship programme is a unique endeavour which seeks to recognize and reward the brightest young minds in a manner that transcends the conventional means of rewarding a child by assessing his /her academic performance. Ecstatic over her selection for the scholarship, Shivranjini said, “The entire process of writing on a topic which we, personally, are so connected to was extremely delightful. “ The felicitation ceremony was held at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration Sector 26.Chief Guest of the Award ceremony was Dr.G.Diwan ( Director Health Service Chandigarh) .A large number of students, parents and school representatives from various schools in the city who had participated in the Scholarship Programme graced the occassion.10 Josephians along with an Educator joined Shivranjini to cheer and celebrate her success.
The School Principal Ms. Monica Chawla congratulated Shivranijini Aggarwal and said that it’s very important for students to come out of the conditioned method of learning and embrace critical thinking.
