Shreya Chawla class XII student of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh an awardee of ‘World Children Peace Prize 2019’has been decorated with yet another momentous title of ‘Earth Day Network Rising Star of April 2020.’ Shreya has been acclaimed with the significant title during the revels that marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.

Shreya’s endeavours that started at the age of twelve with anti-plastic drives in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, campaigns run in India, Maldives and in Thailand were an exceptional feat to mark her success to this glory. Besides this she has also actively participated in the UN Climate Week Conference held at Bangkok, where she voiced her opinion in the ‘Action Hub Session.’ She also received an honorarium from FEMA, UN appreciating her environmental endeavours towards combating climate change at such a young age.
Earth Day Network regularly recognizes youth who do exceptional work for the environment. Shreya’s video that spoke on tremendous efforts that we can render as a single strand in a web to safeguard Humankind and Earth was highly acknowledged. As all things are bound to grow together, the efforts need to be rendered consistently. Humbled by the achievement, Shreya said, that there is a long pathway ahead before the masses change their preferences from economic growth to ecological stability.
The Director Mr. Grewal appreciated the toil of Shreya Chawla and expressed that Shreya’s effort as a horizon attempt towards not letting science overtake and dwindle our stay on planet Earth.
