GURU SHISHYA SETU-A NOBLE ENDEAVOUR BY ST. JOSEPH’S STAFF
In different and difficult times as these memorable occasions can be made even more special. One such day was the Teachers day for the staff of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School. Teachers woke to a touching message sent by the Principal Ms. Monica Chawla- expressing her gratitude to all the staff members. This was followed by a video of the teachers passing the candle that symbolizes knowledge and an amazing video of youngsters wishing their teachers with self-made cards. The members of the Management also expressed their appreciation for the staff members. The school as always, has led by example- This year, under the guidance of the Principal, the teachers donated Rs.50,000/- for all the students of the weaker sections of society to continue with their online education. This amount would aid more than 500 students- a noble gesture under the flagship of GURU SHISHYA SETU- a ST. JOSEEPH’s ENDEAVOUR!
The day was truly unique- beautifully worded cards, heartfelt Messages sent through short videos, smiling faces behind creatively made cards were sent by students to their teachers. Infact, in the Primary wing, the students took charge and sent a google meet link to their teachers to mark themselves present for the attendance on her special day. Brilliant minds with even more brilliant ideas. Touching poems and warm wishes were read out by children to express their heartfelt gratitude to their teachers. Ashoka house is on duty currently and they had organised a Teachers Day card making competition on the virtual platform. The winning cards were made into an artistic collage and sent to the Principal and teachers to mark the significant day.
Virtual teaching will never replace the love, the laughs, the learning, the smiles on the faces of the students and the special moments that happen in an actual classroom – this maybe a heartbreak for many teachers but as mentors we need to remember that any obstacle that comes our way should be taken as a challenge which we need to put aside and strive on. For, it is the teacher, who must show the way. Infact during this year of the pandemic, a teacher needs her own little survived kit- a bandage – to help fix hurt feelings, crayons- to colour the day, tissues- to wipe away any tears, glue- to bond with the students, a candle- to help light the way and finally paper clips- to help her hold it all together. So from the staff of St. Joseph’s- a priceless day to be valued, remembered and cherished forever.
