Hindi is our mother tongue. To encourage children, respect our mother tongue and also to make them acquainted with our traditional Indian festivals, a Hindi Recitation Competition was held for the students of KG of St Joseph’s Sr Sec School Sector 44 D Chandigarh.
The theme was ‘Festivals’ wherein the students recited the rhymes doning traditional costumes associated with that particular festival, they were representing i.e. the child reciting the rhyme of Diwali was dressed in kurta pajama/lehenga-choli while the rhyme on Eid was presented in sherwani and cap. They used beautiful props also to signify the same. The ambience was drenched in festive colors and mood.
The teachers took special care in grooming the students by rectifying their pronunciation of each and every word. Tiny tots not only recited hindi rhymes but introduced themselves also, in hindi. This activity proved fruitful in developing love for mother tongue and our rich cultural heritage, in kindergarteners and arouse the feeling of religious harmony and national integration in them
