Bringing the statement to life, a clean and green Diwali was celebrated by the students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec School, Sec 44, Chandigarh. Hindus celebrate the return of Lord Ram at Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile, while Sikhs observe ‘Bandhi Chorr Divas’ on the occasion. For Jains it is the anniversary of Liberation (Nirvana) The reason could be different but the spirit of the festivities is the same. More than 12 countries in the world celebrate this festival in their own styles.
In the secondary block of the school Ranjit House organized a completion of making Rangoli with eco friendly materials and Homemade sweets. Due to the online participation of students, they sent pictures of magnificently made colourful Rangolis and mouth watering homemade delicacies. Ravneet Kaur of XE and Aanchal Marjara of IX D won the first place in Rangoli making and Yashika of XD and Jahan Garg of IX A was adjudged the winners of homemade sweet event in the respective class categories. A special appreciation was conferred on three students of Class IX who used completely eco-friendly ORGANIC material to prepare the Rangolis.
The students also shared many ideas about celebrating ‘Green Diwali’ and the Principal of the school, Ms Monica Chawla personally screened all these innovative ideas and congratulated students on their awareness about reducing pollution and spreading happiness of festivities in nature also
