The birth anniversary of our first home minister and the Iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is observed as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31 every year.
St Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sector 44, Chandigarh celebrated his 145th birth anniversary this year and remembered his role in the integration of India by combining 560 princely states.
The students of Middle Block of the school remembered him by writing his quotations and achievements and some students sparkled others’ memory with their effective speeches about this great personality.
The students of Senior Secondary Block used the online platform to discuss about the ‘Two ways of building character – cultivating the strength to challenge oppression, and tolerate the resultant hardships that give rise to courage and awareness.’ and ‘The negligence of a few could easily send a ship to the bottom, but if it has the wholehearted co-operation of all on board it can be safely brought to the part.’ taking clues from the life of the great man.
Students also made sketches, Power point presentations, mind maps & Videos; screening life & achievements of Sardar Patel to increase awareness about his works and understand the importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
The annual celebration of the occasion is an opportunity to remember and maintain the integral strength of the nation. It helps make Indian citizens realize that how national integrity helps in defeating the actual and potential threats to unity, integrity and security of the nation. Through all these activities Josephites carried forward the message of strong and united India which will emerge as a Super Power one day
