Enriching Day with Expert Pedagogues

It was a day full of learning at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh, when Pratham Education Foundation visited the school premises, headed by its creative head Mr. Faiyaz. The school has been working in close collaboration with the Pratham Team through various workshops being conducted from time to time, apprising and empowering the teachers to help nurture students who are able to have a strong footing at global level. The event was also graced by Ms. Aakansha, Project Officer at CSF. The school was honoured to invite and host the workshop for several other schools. We had representatives from four different schools i.e. Shri Aurobindo School of Integral Education; Govt. Model School, Mauli Jagran; Govt. Model School, Sector 33 and GMSSS, Sector 10.

The eminent team members urged the teachers to make learning at school a life-long experience for the students, using various pedagogical tools. The team shared and recommended to get away with obsolete and traditional methods of teaching and replacing them with contemporary modes of teaching. It is imperative to analyze and review the existing resources in light of the present needs and ground realities to bring the necessary change required. The team members encouraged teachers to incorporate activities which would give the students chance to infer, evaluate, integrate and create. Integrated learning and learning beyond the text was the highlight of the workshop.

The workshop was for English, Science, Mathematics and Hindi teachers where they got an opportunity to discuss and analyse various teaching strategies and come up with innovative ideas through various hands-on-activities like worksheets, presentations, etc.

The Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla thanked the team members for their extraordinary and industrious efforts to educate the teachers and to equip them with skills to impart education to children with an aim to make it inclusive for all.
