 Noise Pollution

The commencement of a new session is always a propitious time – a time for new beginnings, new hopes, new goals and the opportunities to realize one’s dreams.
It’s a well – known fact that creative activities help in the child’s intellectual and cognitive development. Students at St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh always have plenty of such opportunities coming their way that help to enhance, hone and exhibit their inherent talent via a multitude of activities planned for them.
Taking the initiative of The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change forward, the theme assigned to the students of the Middle Block was ‘Good Green Deeds’. One of these topics was Prevention of the various forms of Pollution. As Bobby Seale rightly said, ‘The only solution to pollution is a people’s revolution’- so the first step in solving the massive pollution problems we face is recognising those problems in the first place. Raising awareness about the different kinds of pollution can help us find pathways forwards to a better world. This is just what the young Josephians had in mind when they showcased their videography skills by preparing a short documentary on the topic assigned to them.
Students of class VIII-D acquainted everyone about Noise Pollution which is the propagation of noise with deleterious impacts on human and animal life. The Short Films prepared by them documented the well- researched facts pertaining to pollution caused by loud honking of vehicles that creates a devastating damage to the entire eco system. They propagated the idea ‘Use Dippers at Night instead of Horns’ very effectively as did the special PUPPET SHOW which was quite a virtuoso performance by a student of the same class . Other students of class VIII-D gave free rein to their creative streak and came up with ingenious Advertisements on the theme ‘Put Your Computer into Sleep Mode When You are Away for a Short While’ that emphasised the advantages of putting the computer into ‘sleep mode’ which is a power conserving function that allows one to quickly resume operations and saves all opened documents and programs so one doesn’t have to reopen them again.
It is rightly said “If you want to bring real change in this world we should start educating children”. With a prime focus to sensitize children to the the disastrous after effects of over filling the fuel tanks to the environment , Class 8 A and B students put up some excellent display in their “Nukkad Natak on Save Environment” as a part of their Green Good Deeds ,depicting some of the most inspirational ways to conserve the environment.
We can save our environment by effectively using or managing the waste. With a promise to create awareness regarding effective waste management ways Class Vlll-A students showcased a unique ‘Fashion Show’, which was a sight to behold.Sashaying in their innovative attires, depicting different ways of waste management students strolled with excitement in the much loved event- the ramp walk.To acquaint the students with the rich and priceless energy resource i.e Sun, Brochure Making Competition was conducted for Class Vlll-E. Students showcased their creativity by crafting eye catching brochures, motivating the people to install solar water heaters to conserve energy.
Ringing in the message to save earth with sustainable practices , students of class 8 -C came up with visionary and innovative ideas in the PPT Making Competition on the topic of ‘Importance of an EU restriction of phosphate detergents for laundry and dishwashers.’
Students of class VIII- F highlighted the need to stop carbon emissions from vehicles through their documentary on the topic-‘Adhere to the Vehicle Emissions Standards to Prevent Air Pollution’. Air Pollution is a familiar health hazard and a nationwide problem. Diesel exhaust is one of the most dangerous sources of air pollution which contributes to about 80% of the added cancer risk from toxic air pollution nationwide.
The members of the Management as well as the Principal profusely praised the Josephians who participated in all the activities with the genuine spirit of learning, collaborating and creating awareness about the key issues crucial to implementing a positive change.
