AT ST. JOSEPH’S, STUDENTS PLANT A TREE AND MAKE A NEW FRIEND
The students of the Secondary block at St Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School took on the most important task for the month of July, as they marked Van Mahotsav Day in a different way this year. Being home bound, they took their parents along with them to plant trees. The school has always done it,s best in instilling great values, one of which being the planting of trees. As has been rightly said that “trees are precious- there is little else on earth that plays host to such a rich community of life within a single organism , that of course are the trees”. The Children, in keeping their parents involved in this nobel task, also realised the significance of planting trees. The value of these majestic creations is so very remarkable. It is said that when humans exhale, the trees inhale and what the trees exhale we are inhaling. The life-giving oxygen is provided by trees that are indeed precious and priceless.
Rabindra Nath Tagore has aptly remarked that,” The one who plants trees knows that he will never sit in their shade”. This is the greatness of these magnificient creations of God.
The students in the previous years at St. Joseph’s , took immense pride in planting trees in their school and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However, this small beautiful gesture of planting trees cannot be done in their school due to the pandemic but has been done in and around the surrounding areas of the residence of the children, thus making their areas lush, green and fresh. Great contributions from young children.
Mentors in the Secondary block quoted Sadhguru who has often stresses on the need and importance of plantation of trees. Infact, he has in his interactions with children often said that, “maybe you children never thought of trees as your best friend? This friendship day, how many friends will you add to your life”. So, well put across for these young impressionable minds. So finally, planting a tree is surely an enormous expression of love for life. “You never know if you will enjoy the shade or fruits of a tree grown by you but you know for sure that someone will in the near future and that is the beauty of planting trees .
The Principal of the school, Ms. Monica Chawla encouraged students to do their bit for the environment as she often states that – “taking care of the environment is not an obligation-our environment is our life”. So, the students have always been taught – Save trees, Save the Earth as we are the guardians of nature and must do our bit as individuals living on this great planet called Earth.
