“The world will be a much better place to live if we use more of biofuel and less of fossil fuel.”

Every year, August 10 is celebrated as International Biodiesel Day with an aim to turn the focus to non-fossil fuels. The day also honours the research experiments by Sir Rudolf Diesel who, in the year 1893, ran an engine with peanut oil. He had also predicted that in future, fossil fuels would be replaced with vegetable oil.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel which can be used in place of fossil fuels. It is manufactured from vegetable oils, recycled grease, algae, and animal fat.

We, at St.Joseph’s duly acknowledge that for a healthier, happier and better life, we must embrace the goodness of biofuels.

On the occasion of Biofuel Day, a plethora of activities were conducted to raise awareness regarding the fact that without shifting ourselves on biofuel,we have no future.

An English Declamation Competition was organized for Class Vllth students of the Middle Block of the school to mark the day. The students keenly participated and expressed their concern emphatically, stressing on the dire need to make more and more people aware of goodness of biofuel.

The activity aimed at exploring and encouraging public speaking in children and to sensitize them to come together and join hands to switch to biofuel.

 It was wonderful to watch the enthusiastic students ardently expressing their thoughts.The dynamic participants mesmerized the student audience with their vibrant oratory skills. They were made to present their views on diverse topics within the given time limit. They displayed confidence, enthusiasm and awareness while participating in the competition. The bar rose extremely high for the competition, where in each participant could feel their pulse roaring, as everyone was well prepared , spoke confidently with expression and excellent diction.

The revered School Principal Ms. Monica Chawla asserted that we all should strive for a better and healthier life and using biofuel is the way to the life that we desire. She further congratulated and appreciated the efforts put in by the young, energetic, eloquent and persuasive orators.
