St Joseph’s celebrates ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’

Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of India’s 75th year of glorious Independence, the management, staff, and students of St. Joseph’s Sr Sec School, Sector 44 D, Chandigarh wore a tricolored look by hosting a myriad of online events for the whole school.
To commemorate India’s 75th Independence Day, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Kindergarten block of School organised a number of online activities where the tiny tots raised slogans of freedom fighters who fought bravely against the British to make our country free. They also displayed their creative talent by making tricolored candle holders using simple ingredients like pulses and rice, crafted paper vases adorned with tricolour flowers. The students felt proud of the legacy of our nation and resolved to always work for peace, justice, equality, and progress of the country.
The Primary-1 block organised a Fancy Dress Competition on the theme ‘National Heroes of India’. Students of classes I and II were engaged in many interesting activities like making Tricolour strings, dressing up as various national heroes and also showcasing their patriotism through dance videos. Tiny tots, dressed like Chander Shekhar Azad, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rani of Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Sarojini Naidu, Pt. Nehru, etc. raised slogans to stir a feeling of patriotism in the onlookers.
The students of Primary II block participated in Patriotic Dance, Face painting, and Poetry Recitation competition, leaving an indelible mark on everyone’s mind with their unshaken confidence and pride in being an Indian.
The Middle block was abuzz with activities to mark the 75 remarkable years of independence. The students of class 6 rekindled the flame of patriotism as they shared the slogans and famous sayings of their favourite revolutionaries and freedom fighters. The students of class 7, dressed in tri-colour dresses danced to the tunes depicting the rich and varied culture of the nation. The students of class 8 from the Middle Block shared their spirit and enthusiasm through a display of sumptuous and savoury tri-colour dishes.
To tickle the teenage minds, a unique Doodle Art Making and Flower Arrangement competitions were organised for the students of the Secondary Block. The enthusiastic students scribbled various attractive and eye-catching patterns on paper in tricolour to deliver a message of unity in diversity and the joy of breathing in a free India. The Tri-coloured Flower Arrangement was a feast for every eye. Various competitions were organised keeping in mind the individual differences and the need to tickle the young minds in order to ensure their holistic development and also to teach the leaders of tomorrow an important lesson for life, that “Truth alone will endure; all the rest will be swept always in the tide of Time.”
The school Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla lauded the teachers’ tireless efforts and students’ unbeaten enthusiasm to pay their sincere tribute to the ones who had laid their lives to break the shackles of slavery. She further told the students to follow the teachings of great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and become ideal citizens of the country. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience freedom, peace, and unity in diversity.
