JOSEPHITES CELEBRATED ‘VRIKSHABANDHAN’
To strengthen and celebrate the virtuous bond of love between siblings as well as nature, a myriad of competitions was organised for the students of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Sec.44 D, Chandigarh using the virtual platform.
The competitions were planned to keep the age and interests of the students across various blocks, including Rakhi Making, Thali Designing, Gift Hamper Making, Greetings designing, short skits. etc. The school promoted the concept of 3R’s, keeping in mind the Strategic Developmental Goals. The aesthetic appearance of Rakhis, Thalis, and Gift Hampers, made from the upcycled material, promoted the hands-on activity ideology, enhancing the festive feeling that blossomed on everyone’s face. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm, showcasing their mature artisanship, which was fascinating and overwhelming for all. In addition, tiny – tots tied rakhis on plants and trees by naming them as ‘Vrikshabandhan’ to strengthen the bond of protection. The activities inculcated moral values in kids apart from sensitizing them towards our nature and environment.
The school Principal, Ms. Monica Chawla, appreciated the tireless efforts of the students and teachers to make this event a great success. Ma’am lauded the idea of celebrating Vrikshabandhan as our duty and responsibility to protect Mother Nature. She added that although brother and sister reaffirm their pious bond of affection, it should run across the globe and not be limited to only a single day as it conveys the message of purity, the unmatched bond of love, care, etc. respect between humans. Ms. Chawla encouraged the students to tie this sacred thread ‘Rakhi’ not just to their siblings but also the front-line warriors as an act of gratitude towards them.
